It is common for antivirus software to even have its own problems with security. For McAfee this is a small set back. For personal computer users, this can mean the end of their computers life. If you are a private computer user this can be frustrating to say the least, but if you use your computer for business purposes, a crashed computer can be a prelude to a crashed business.
This week McAfee has promised to reimburse home customers who were hit by last week’s faulty update which caused thousands of personal computer users to lose their very much needed information. With McAfee dealing with hundreds of complaints from the people who use their virus protection software who now find their systems vulnerable to the things they thought to protect them from. This can be potentially devastating.
To give McAfee some credit they did apologize formally and offer to generate a fix as quickly as they possibly could. They have now also gone a step further. In an unprecedented turn of events McAfee is committing to repay home and office users for any cost incurred to fix their personal computers because of McAfees issues that caused vulnerabilities in their systems.
A public relations manager has promised that for any who have already paid cost to have their computers fixed, McAfee plans to reimburse them. This is an unprecedented undertaking. They state that “If you have already incurred costs to repair your PC as a result of this issue, we’re committed to reimbursing reasonable expenses,” These steps to regain your personal reimbursement will be implemented in days to come and will provide a page where you can apply for reimbursement.
McAfee also wants to reward their loyal customers whose PC’s were affected but who still plan to stick with McAfee. The company has assured its loyal customers that they will promise to extend their antivirus subscriptions for another two years free of charge.
