Release of Window Vista is nearing to the final stage of its IT support, thus stating that all its customers will now have to run for the Vista’s Service Pack 1 or the Service Pack 2 in order to avail the assistance of Microsoft. The company has however made slight adjustments in order to support their policies and hence reducing the deadline to some extent. Based on the new change in the policy, Microsoft supporting staff is further allowed to give their best efforts for providing limited troubleshooting to all the customers using the unsupported service packs despite their unsupported contract.

According to their former service pack support policy whenever a service pack is heading towards the end of support, all its customers were no more eligible of receiving the troubleshooting aid from the customer support and service of the company. this also included the assisting telephone support, non security hotfixes and the security updates. Over the last few years, Microsoft has received numerous feedbacks about this policy from their partners and customers. Amongst them, numerous customers have asked for the aptitude to receive the troubleshooting support from the computer giant on unsupported service packs. However, this will be done only if the product itself is in the Extended Support phase or Mainstream Support Phase. Their wide ranging opinion was just that in case they are facing any issues, then the Microsoft should only offer restricted migration or support aid for some of the unsupported service pack.

The only motive of the added support will still be to assist the clients to move to a supported version of the software. Additionally Microsoft even noted that only the supported versions get the latest updates like security packs and bug fixes. According to Microsoft the clients are highly motivated to remain on a supported service pack to guarantee that they are on the fresh and the most guaranteed version of this product. This is actually most vital for those clients who are running the business decisive applications.
