Latest news in internet world is that of the licensing renewal issues between Google world’s largest search engine and China emerging super power.

The world was waiting for the decision of Chinese government over renewal of Google’s license to continue operating in china. If Google’s blog is to be trusted they announced in single statement about their renewal in China few days ago on 28th June 2010. This was assured by China on last Sunday that they have given green signal to Google to operate in their country. The only hitch is none of the two have conveyed it directly to the work. Both the parties have taken indirect approach to put out this news to public.
As per official papers, the previous license was due to expire on 30th June and the application to renew it was filed by company which operates Google in china was given on 29th June. The approval was not certain as China was not particularly happy with the way Google operates or operated in their country. Ever since 2006 when Google started operating in china they have had tiffs with the authorities. This was the main reason why the extension of license was unexpected. There was also a rumour where Google accused Chinese government of attacking internet business of many renowned companies. The result of this was China blocking Google search results in their country.
This license renewal news has raised a lot of questions in lots of people’s minds. This would probably be answered with time only. This is true that Google will not redirect automatically to Hong Kong sites for Google.cn. The Google has also commented that without ICP license they can operate commercial sites like Google.cn. This means they will have to abide by China’s some if not all laws and requirement.
