Researching for something? That’s when you often use Google as your search engine. True that this is the usual trademark that Google has encrypted in everyone’s mind. It is famous for its wide resources on researches and websites but quite feeble in terms of shopping and consumer related statistics. Google has been trying to be an avenue for shoppers in terms of consumer education and product information. Though frequently failed of doing this through the years, Google is not putting a stop to the effort for the shoppers. Google – as the destination of shopping experience, that’s what the Google’s product management director, Sameer Samat plans on developing over the next coming months.

The dream of making Google be made up of product search pages and hoped to be patronized by both consumers and retailers started in 2001 – the Froogle. But due to pranksters, the site didn’t become famous which resulted to the pulling out of Froogle and the initialization of the Google Product Search. The good news? Google has improved its Google Product Search engine that more than 100,000 retailers are sending their product information, images, videos and user reviews to the Google engine. There are actually 2 ideas for which Google are innovating to serve all the different kinds of shoppers.

The first is mobile-related. Google plans to maximize technological capabilities by using mobile phone as search engines for shoppers who are already in a specific store but is still unsure of the product. Google even have android application which can scan barcodes to know everything about the product.

The second idea is more on creation of a shopping list and having the capability to know which products are nearby the shopper involved. This idea is still being carefully planned and so is not established yet. But this will not just be all about shopping. Samat emphasizes the importance of merchant’s loyalty and the product information’s credibility. And someday, this Google may be leveled to Amazon and may even be more than that. IT Support
