This Wednesday, Microsoft came up with its outlined series of improvements in all the Windows Live apps, especially the programs used for managing videos, photos and keeping files in proper sync. Microsoft’s decision of updating the apps came up, as there are not many major Windows updates scheduled this year. Hence Microsoft is specifically counting upon these updates or improvements designed for the various Windows Live apps to boost its earnings for the holiday shopping season this year.

General Manager of Microsoft, Brian Hall, stated in an interview that the company will soon be refreshing Windows 7 using a new framework of applications. Although trying to decline any further specific details, Hall only stated about a few apps that will be updated soon. According to the interview, the company is believed to be updating the Windows Live Photo Gallery, Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Sync and Windows Live Movie Maker into their beta versions in the coming few months. According to sources, the new version of Windows Live Photo Gallery tool will have the feature to add face recognition services while also removing scratches and blemishes from the photos. Until now, Microsoft has had applications that could only detect the existence of faces but couldn’t recognize the person in the picture. However, just sometime back, Apple is known of adding the face detection ability to its latest version of iPhoto.

Hall stated that Microsoft’s new face recognition application feature will increase a lot of work for the research team of the company while will also have to tap into the existing network of the user’s social contacts in order to figure out the name of the person in the photo. One more new feature added to the Photo Gallery tool is mainly aimed to click better pictures by allowing multiple shots of people. Through this tool, you can now take up the expressions of some person from one picture and then add to the picture of another person using this technology.   IT Support
